Our Story
Our story began in 2013, when José Luis (Nuno) López and his family founded Airelibre Restaurant & Bar in the heart of Santurce, San Juan, just steps from the iconic La Placita.
What started as a small family restaurant quickly became a favorite destination for locals and visitors seeking authentic Puerto Rican cuisine. Thanks to the incredible support of our guests, we expanded by acquiring the property directly behind the restaurant and the neighboring apartment, allowing us to welcome more customers as demand continued to grow.
Today, Airelibre proudly offers a unique dining experience as the only restaurant in San Juan with a fully retractable roof, where guests can enjoy traditional Puerto Rican flavors, handcrafted cocktails, and warm hospitality in a true open-air atmosphere experience.
